After finishing Ghouls ‘N Ghosts on the Genesis with Cheffy T in CO-OP mode, we were excited for Resurrection to release. My only worry though was if Arthur's movement/speed matched the slow SNES version, which unfortunately happened to be the case. Despite that, the multiplayer in this game was much different compared to the original, where Player 2 now controlled a separate ghost ally with a variety of powers. With our multiplayer tactics, we managed to survive through 10 levels on the Hardest "Legends" difficulty before Zone 4's Citadel Approach made the game basically impossible. And this game doesn't let you change the Difficulty in Settings either, oh no.... instead we had to restart our progress from a New Save completely (twas worth it). Collecting all 17 Demon Orbs though for the True Ending was pure bootleg, as it required finding Hidden Treasure Chests throughout the levels, taking out the wizard, and completing his Hell Hole Challenge Rooms. At first we found these on accident, but it wasn't until the second playthrough that the random "Treasure Chimes" started to make sense. I would highly recommend upgrading your Umbral Tree with the "Treasure Eye II" as it makes locating these Chests so much easier. Afterwards, it was just a matter of finding each Hidden Spot and collecting the Demon Orbs, defeating the Final Bosses, and unlocking the True Ending as well as Armory. The Silver Knight Armor is your default gear, Red Armory Armor gives permanent access to all the weapons, and Blue Cast Armor makes Arthur completely immune to damage..... IT'S AWESOME. We didn't even know about the Armor Sets but that Blue one was 100% worth all the struggle that was endured through cheap deaths and unfair moments. Fun Fact: We finished this in April 2021, but Cheffy T was being lazy and didn't feel like getting the last 50,000+ points for the Red Armor until over one month later. Overall, it was a really fun but challenging game to playthrough in multiplayer, offered a number of series references, awesome weapons/upgrades, and got us excited for the return of Whoopee Camp (bring back Tomba please) that I would recommend any fan of Ghosts and Goblins/Ghouls n Ghosts to give Resurrection a try.
