Details have come out through recent early access viewers that Elden Ring might limit invasions to co-op groups. This means that solo hosts might not be able to be invaded unless they have summoned help, from AI summons or other online players. While I think this is a decent idea, there is one important caveat for From Software to consider. Give Solo Hosts an opt-in of some kind, be it an item, covenant, or menu setting for them to be invaded regardless of co-operation or not.

"Invaders will never invade a mounted player because players cannot be mounted in cooperative play. That is to say, you can only invade players that are cooperating, not players who are alone. (Of course, there’s a duel item for those who wish to summon invaders)."
