Hi I'm Philip, or best known as Synthetickill, a content creator known primarily for a game called Rust. For nearly a decade on the channel I have produced numerous gaming videos but recently have come to the realisation of taking a new creative direction.

I've been refining my craft at film making through the use of digital production, and have recently decided to drop the gameplay aspects of it and go full Machinima. With a full creative, artistic vision & narrative.

I'm using this Twitch to show you the progress of my projects in programmes such as RustEdit.

And in the future hoping to dwell into animation and 3D graphics/rendering & motion capture for future projects.

~ FAQ ~

~What are you creating?~

I'm currently creating a machinima/short film based around The COBALT Foundation in Rust. It will be dwelling in cosmic horror within a militaristic setting. With my own unique take on the lore within Rust.

And all future projects will have a similar theme. But I plan on doing shorts and more not only on Rust but other games too.

~Machinima? Like the company?~

No, I'm creating an actual 'Machinima'

A Machinima is the practice or technique of producing animated films through the manipulation of video game graphics.

~What am I looking at?~

RustEdit. It's a free software in which it grants you all the in-game prefabs (models) for you to mess around with to create some pretty unique models/maps.

Think of Lego or playdough. You stretch, stick and model whatever you can think of.

It's community is extremely helpful. I would highly recommend checking out the Discords and the prefab/map showcases where you can download whatever people willingly upload on there for free.

Here's the software - (https://bit.ly/3f8XYJX)

I would also highly recommend checking out Lone & Ted Pommes on YouTube for their tutorials on RustEdit.

~Why haven't you uploaded?~

Because I'm working on this project. I stated in my latest upload that this will take possibly months to create. Things take time. Subscribers are dropping rapidly due to not uploading.

But I can't stress this enough at how much fulfilment & fun I'm getting out of this project.

I'm not rushing it. I'm going to create the best thing I have ever created in my entire life.

The main thing that has halted it has been the HDRP update. It drastically reduced the range/distance of the LOD (Level of Detail) of prefabs to save performance, especially with the light prefabs/models. Basically lights pop in very abruptly in a very unrealistic way.

They say they are working on it for me people at FacePunch and they have provided cinematic light orb prefabs, but they are very limited in their quantity compared to the number of actual light prefabs in the game.

Only time will tell when and if they actually resolve the issue for cinematics and the demo system.

~How can I support this project?~

I stated in one of my latest videos on the channel that the best way would to be become a Patron or through one time donations.

This project will not only take time, but funding. For SFX & VFX, animations, custom plugins and skins etc.

But if you want to know more and be part of this project and future ones, then the best option would be to become a Patron.

The barrier to entry is £1 a month which will grant you:
. Access to my exclusive Discord
. Access to work in progress & behind the scenes previews.
. Polls to influence creative decisions & Q&As.
. Help & act in cinematic production.
. Early access to new uploads
. Glorified in video credits.

If you still want to ask more questions feel free to ask in the chat whenever I am streaming. I will try to explain with the best of my abilities without spoiling too much about my projects.
