Cobaltviolet
This video is a bit shorter due to the fact that there aren't so many differnt cobaltviolet pigments and that they're one of the most expensive pigments. The high costs are also the reason why not many brands offer cobaltviolets, but offer hues instead.
There will be coming videos about cobaltviolet, cobaltblue, cobaltturquoise/teal, cobaltgreen and ceruleanblue, which are also cobaltpigments.
After the cobaltfamily I will make more videos about other colorfamilies and single pigments as well. We will discover modern pigments, rare and historical pigments one after another.
The name cobalt comes from Germany. Mining workers in the 16th century formed the name. Cobalt and silverveins look very similar and so oftentimes the workers mined cobalt insted of silver. They realized that when the metal was heated and released toxic fumes. Then they said that the Kobold (german name for goblin) tricked them into mining the wrong metal Over time the word changed from Kobold to cobalt.
Please be aware that cobalt pigments are toxic so be careful while working with them. Keep them out of reach from children and pets. Don't eat and drink while working with them and wash your hands very thoroughly afterwards.
