Code Vein Dodge/Trap build vs Invading Executioner NG+1
BUILD DETAILS IN DESCRIPTION (Was done on NG+1)
Probably the only time fighting this boss where the slide is the attack you want to bait out repeatedly. I find it interesting that the slide can cause two countermeasure orbs to trigger when dodging it, Maybe it has two hitboxes?
A showcase of a dodge build I came up with during my second play-though (NG+1). The premise was simply to be able to defeat bosses without attacking directly by utilising countermeasure and Blood grab to effectively have infinite ichor and deal damage through dodging and traps alone.
This build can be created in a single playthrough as none of the required blood codes are miss-able. The latest Blood code required is Hephaestus so It can be completed during the crypt spire. I do add a skill from the Queen's claw blood code but it is not mandatory for the build to function.
Build details (Modified so some elements may differ from the footage):
Code:
Artemis
Veil:
Blackblood Liberator. Suicide spur would work as well but I like this veil more visually.
Weapon:
In the video I used a Bayonet devour that you can find in the depths but any light weapon with a high drain rating works. Weapon damage is irrelevant so give it the drain enhancement as well
Skills and required blood codes:
Blood grab (passive): Artemis bound skill that drains Ichor on successful dodge based on your drain rating. Only works on melee attacks that you successfully dodge with the same timing that would grant focus. (MANDATORY)
Countermeasure (Hephaestus): temporarily creates flame orbs upon successful dodges that deal fire based damage that scale with willpower. (MANDATORY)
Blood sucking blades and Hunting feast: Both buffs that enhance drain rating. (Artemis and hunter respectively)
Overdrive (assassin): Damage boost that works with the mines and ideally you shouldn't be getting hit so it should last long enough to let you recover its ichor cost.
Vanishing hollow (Hephaestus): I don't quite remember if this works with countermeasure but it can get you out of a bind if a medium dodge isn't fast enough. If not, can be swapped out with ailment heals.
Rose flame: (Queen's Claw) Places flaming caltrops that explode on contact or after a set time. Can be omitted if you want to do purely dodge only but it speeds up the fights significantly.
Flames of rage (Hephaestus): Flame Trap. Can be omitted if you want to do purely dodge only but it speeds up the fights significantly.
Savy evasion (Prometheus): Gain more focus on dodges
Weapon drain rating up (Caster): More Drain rating
Focus drain boost (Queenslayer): More Drain while focused
Disclaimer:
The footage was recorded around the time of patch 1.10 so the skills may have changed since then although I don't think any of them have.
I have not tested this on every boss. I defeated three bosses with this setup in my second playthrough: The Butterfly of Delirium, Invading Executioner and Successor of the breath (although I don't have the footage for the latter). I have beaten the game since so it's unlikely I'll return for a while (I also did not buy the DLC)
