Welcome to a series which sees the return of retro games to the channel! This is The Retro Show! In this series, we'll be revisiting old classics from the Playstation (PS1) and Playstation 2 (PS2) era. We'll be playing each game for around 20-30 minutes and, if you guys enjoy it enough, it could turn in to a full let's play! In today's installment, we play F1 2009 on the PSP.
F1 2009 is a video game based on the 2009 season of the Formula One motor racing series. The game was confirmed by Codemasters on 9 May 2008. It was released on the Wii and PlayStation Portable on 16 November 2009, in North America, 19 November in the PAL region and 20 November in the United Kingdom. The game was also out on iOS on 14 December 2009 for £6.99. The PlayStation Portable version was also available as a download from the PlayStation Store from 16 November.
This is the first game in Codemasters' F1 video game series upon acquiring the licensing rights for Formula One video games in 2008, with all subsequent sequels based on further F1 seasons released annually on non-Nintendo consoles and the PC. It eventually became the only F1 game to be available on the Wii and one of only two F1 games that Codemasters released for a Nintendo console, with the other one being the spin-off, F1 Race Stars, for the Wii U.
