Colin McRae Rally 2.0, a masterpiece designed to challenge you hardcore!
Featuring a completely new graphics engine, the sequel advanced imaging techniques like hardware T&L (transform and lighting) and cubics environment mapping. The new graphics engine is impresiveengine and even goes so far that it casts real-time shadows for every single tree and roadside structure in the game, what was pretty new for the days then.
The game offers two modes of play based around the sport. Rally is the more realistic of the two, but novices is a good start for the beginers to learn the basics. Championship rounds are run in exactly the same manner as the singles, but the results in each of a series of races are tallied to determine a driver's trophy position at the end.
There are two classes of championship: Class B consists of tracks in Italy, Sweden and Greece, while the initially locked A Class runs the player through Australia, Finland and France.
Each car has its own unique cockpit, physics and damage models. Some have better views than others, but they are each unique and that adds authenticity to the game. It's all made very good, only bad thing is that the damage models are not so good like in the TOCA Touring Cars series from Codemasters.
The game is fun and looks and sounds fine, i cant find much thats wrong with it, for racing/rally fans a must have game, even now when it's old it kicks ass hard.
