This might be one of the hardest missions in the game. Last time I completed it (back in late 90s) I think I took different approach - IIRC I went from the east side - over the ridge, took as many SAM/AAA I could on the rim, and egaged the primaries from there. I tried this method (and several others) this time around but after dozens of retries I finally got it this way.
