It is time to put in a socket...I do not think I have ever gone to the trouble of removing a chip and not installing a socket! True, sockets can go bad and become a point of failure, but it is rare and there are ways to rehabilitate sockets...but they sure make troubleshooting quick and easy!

I just have to keep Penny away from the hot soldering iron!
