Commodore Vic-20 - Scavenged - 2114 Chips - Every Bit Of It! - Waste Nothing! Nuts - Episode 1522
I recently decided to scavenge 2114 chips from a Vic-20, and I do not regret it...the machine was one that smoked many years ago...something just inside of the power switch went ballistic when I plugged it in, even before I turned it on! And so, it has sat around for many a year...but when I needed 2114 RAM chips to save a PET, it was an easy decision...but I will not and have not stopped there...I am slowly taking apart each and everything that can be saved...I have extracted 4 of the RAM chips, the rest will follow...as well most anything else that might be helpful down the road...I have gathered a bag on things, which includes many screws, bolts, washers, and nuts...I should have put those things in individual tiny bags and marked them...oh well, I can sort that out later...anyway, there is much more to save before this board goes into a frame, or gets donated to the deal table at the Toronto PET Users Group World of Commodore show...once something is deemed bad, then save as much as you can...you never know when you might need that obscure chip...or somebody else might!
