Is this the death of free to play?

Why the road ahead has me very concerned.
I have been in the situation in GAC or TW where I or my guild can't clear a GL on defence. And let me tell you it's not fun, it really kills the game.
Even if you do have a non-GL counter team if you don't have the right mods or turn order it doesn't work, and that's really disheartening.

I think they are pushing this because more money is spent on the GL grind. Then on a non-gl grind. And also a non-GL grind is about half the time and gear of a GL grind. So they want that to stop.

it was more efficient to farm counters to GLs, which i guess is why they wanted to nerf them so badly. GL characters are/aren't "hard" to obtain, they just weren't worth it when you consider the investment. For the same GP it takes to get SLKR, you can get Padme, CLS, troopers, GG, and GAS and 501st. Which was a better investment squad depth was better then having 1 star lineup.

The so called unbalance in the game isn't true just shows that CG has on idea about how the community plays their game. And they SC-Crumb out right said in the video that Dark trooper was a GL counter character that the community had upgraded and invested in and that they wanted that to stop so he will be returned to relic 5 to anyone with him over relic 5. So I expect more characters will be nerfed like this in the future if they turn out to be a GL counter.
