Composer Mick Giacchino Talks Creating ‘The Penguin’ Theme & Lessons from His Dad Michael Giacchino
On this episode of The Movie Podcast, Daniel and Shahbaz are joined by Composer Mick Giacchino to discuss his work on the HBO Original limited series The Penguin from DC Studios. The series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman crime saga, exploring the Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld. Mick’s recent projects include Disney’s The Muppets Mayhem and AMC+’s That Dirty Black Bag. Since his debut with Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow in 2015, Mick has contributed to Disney’s Zootopia+, Netflix’s animated feature Extinct, The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, and additional music for The Batman. In 2021, he released his first instrumental EP, Perseverance. Mick is also the son of Composer and Director Michael Giacchino, a friend and frequent guest of The Movie Podcast.
