My Hero Academia: One's Justice was announced today in a leaked low quality scan from Weekly Shonen Jump,, and none of the information about who might be developing the game is available right now, however I wanted to take a look at what we can see right now in order to talk to you guys about my expectations, and my first reactions to the scan!
First off, Celshading. Deku and Shigaraki appear to be celshaded in this scan, and that leads me to believe that the game is being developed by CyberConnect2. That’s obviously a shallow reason, but if you were Bandai and you were seeking to get a 3D Cel shaded fighting game, I think the team you’d go to right off the bat is CC2, especially since they have all of their experience from the Naruto Storm series.Shigaraki is looking pretty damn awesome, and Deku looks weird, however I’m sure changes will be made to his model over time. It is pretty weird seeing Deku in 3D, so I’m sure that’s something we all have to get used to.
On the left we have a screenshot of Deku doing a powered up Full Cowl Punch. I think it should be stated, that since we’re seeing Deku and Shigaraki as the first 2 character reveals, you can expect this game to cover the first two seasons of the anime, because we know Deku has Full Cowl.Stick around to hear why it may even cover season 3 and the forest battle arc.
Below this screenshot of Deku, we see Deku sending someone flying with a Delawere Smash. The words smash even pop up on screen in-game, so we know they’re going with a sort of comic book style for this game, which isn’t surprising since the American comic book style is something that the My Hero Academia series does a very good job of mimicking and taking notes of.As we scroll more, we see more of Deku kicking Shigaraki’s butt, but we also see an image on the right.Well here’s that image in HQ. It’s actually confirmed to be the key art for My Hero Academia One’s Justice, and we see Shigaraki, and Deku split right down the middle. Now if you don’t read the manga, you might not recognize that character on the top left. I’ll give you a second to close out the video, since this will be spoilers for the upcoming season of My hero academia.
You see, All Might is behind Midoriya, but Shigaraki and Midoriya have some pretty serious parallels. Both had moments where they felt useless, and both have a savior with a crazy amount of power that came to them in their darkest hour of need, and told them you know what, you can be a hero, you can be whatever you want.In Shigaraki’s case, this person came in the form of All for One. That’s right, the person you’re seeing behind Shigaraki is All Might’s arch nemesis, All for One. A crazy villain who can take other peoples quirks and make them his own, and he can even mix and match the quirks, to be crazy powerful. This is something that’ll happen in Season 3, but it comes after the Forest Battle arc, where Deku takes on a SUPER strong opponent, and the rest of 1-A learns what it means to really take on true villains. Hopefully the game actually is developed my CC2, and we get some of their amazing boss battles and cutscenes, cause if this game covers all 3 seasons of the anime, we’re going to be drooling.
For now, we’re waiting for the HQ versions of the scans to do our translations and to see more, but Jump Festa is coming very soon, so expect to see a trailer of the game on the 14th or 15th of December!Until then, this has been Shonen, and we’ll see you later.
