Congo Bongo, also known as Tip Top, emerged as a platform game introduced by Sega in 1983 as an arcade video game. The ROM of the game carries a message indicating that its coding was, at least partially, handled by the company Ikegami Tsushinki. Unlike Sega's earlier Zaxxon from 1982, Congo Bongo adopts an isometric perspective but lacks scrolling. Following its arcade release, the game saw various home ports.

In this game, players step into the shoes of a red-nosed safari explorer on a quest to apprehend an ape named Bongo, who maliciously ignited the explorer's tent. Each of the four screens presents the player with the challenge of navigating from the lower left corner to the ape's location on the right or upper right. The explorer must skillfully climb ledges, leap over water and gaps in the terrain, all while evading attacks from hostile animals.
