Connect Power Buttons on Side of Remote for TV Volume on ROKU
Steps to Connect Power and Volume Buttons on Side of Roku Remote for TV Control:
Verify Remote Type: Ensure your Roku remote has side-mounted Power and Volume buttons (common on Roku Voice Remote or Enhanced Remote). IR remotes without side buttons may not support this feature.
Check Batteries: Open the battery compartment and replace AA or AAA batteries with fresh ones. For Roku Voice Remote Pro (rechargeable), ensure it’s fully charged.
Enable HDMI-CEC on TV: Use your TV’s remote to go to its settings menu and enable HDMI-CEC (may be called Bravia Sync, Anynet+, Simplink, or similar). This allows the Roku remote to control TV power and volume.
Set Up Remote for TV Control:
Press Home on your Roku remote.
Navigate to Settings - Remotes & Devices - Remotes - [Your remote] - Set up remote for TV control.
Follow on-screen prompts to detect your TV brand and test both Power and Volume buttons (takes ~45 seconds). Roku will send codes to sync the side buttons.
Test Buttons: Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button to turn the TV on/off and the Volume Up/Down buttons to adjust volume. Ensure no obstructions block the TV’s sensor for IR remotes.
Power Cycle (if needed): If buttons don’t work, unplug your Roku and TV for 15 seconds, plug them back in, and retry the setup.
Re-pair Remote (if needed): If syncing fails, re-pair the remote:
Remove batteries, unplug Roku, wait 10 seconds, plug in Roku.
Reinsert batteries and hold the pairing button (in battery compartment) for 5 seconds until the light flashes.
