Bakemono is rather straight forward despite their unit short comings. Their main weakness is their primary units are just little goblins and are as weak as Hoburgs and goblins. But, all mountain mines and bases provide a random small Bakemono unit every turn. So it is like having a Dwarf Queen at every mountain mine you take.

Much like the Troll King, you get alot of random opportunities to recruit the larger Bakemono that more like ogres with more hp and much higher damage. But they are recruited in groups of one or three rather than the ten small Bakemonos.

But their primary gimmick is there Bakemono Sorcerors. They cast their own path of magic which is a mixture if storm and death magic. They are also the first faction caster that only has two tiers of upgrades. They start off being able to cast second level magic but their first upgrade is a lateral upgrade. They hide their heart, becoming stronger in melee and more hp along with becoming immortal. Only then are they able to upgrade to cast third level magic.

All sorcerors and immortals are able to perform rituals and they decide how much they sacrifice at the risk of losing control. The summons are mixture of oni and tengu. The tengu are good in melee but are positioned in the back lines and are able to cast multiple weak storm spells. The oni vary from simple champions that can do little but cause fear while one group of oni were melee based that cast fire magic and when killed they come back as ethereal versions of themselves. I noticed I've been getting alot of champions that can lead troups for me if I wished. The top level summons involve summoning a tengu champion and several ranks of tengu or just one powerful third level caster Oni with over 90 hp and strong melee attacks.

So much like my recent playthroughs, I took advantage of my mass magic and nuke my opponents to dust. I thoroughly destroying opponents i usually have trouble with because armor cannot stop magic.
