Conquest of Elysium 3 (Bergmeister) Part 1
Sorry for the delay, everyone. Been sick and dealing with classes this week.
Amazing what an army of anklebiters can do.
So the Bergmeisters start off with a few disadvantages. They are all slow meaning unless you make an army of nothing but hogmeisters and hog riders, you have only 2 AP a turn. All the hobbits are practically goblins so their hp is about half of what it should be and they sport -1 and -2 damage on most attacks. The only unit that can reliably cause damage are the crossbows which still have a -1 but usually do enough to break through armor.
But their advantages are in the fact they can be recruited 15 at a time. Due to lack of armor and hp, your front line will constantly need replacements but with 15 units per month per area, its very easy to build up forces up in the hundreds. Of course they are still very vulnerable to aoe magic and attacks.
Speaking of magic, the hobbits have a weak druid type that can cast a bit but their main benefit is the ability to use weed to summon animals. If an Ancient Forest is nearby, you can even summon Ents. They also have an inventor type of champion that uses gems to create constructs and even mechanical dragons.
So instead of dealing with upgrades and fancy spells, this faction relies more on swarming their foes while saving their resources for more reliable frontline units. Certainly did better than I thought. But the 2 AP thing was incredibly annoying. Oh and its very easy to make money with the hobbits as they had the ability to convert one gold farms into Hoburg Farms that provide three gold and some weed.
