Conquest of Elysium 3 (Team Priest King) Part 1
So the rules this time is biggest map and 4v4 at Baron difficulty as a Priest King. Not my wisest decision after seeing our opponents.
After dealing with the Priest Kings so much in recent playthroughs, I figure it would be like Dwarf Queen where I find neat things to take advantage and show. Boy was I wrong. Apparently, those battles against the Priest King showed us everything the faction has to offer for the most part with the exception of a few mechanics.
I don't even know where to start with this. Perhaps the good. Umm... They can use 3 AP to gather slaves from a populated village. Slaves are 3 hp and do every little damage but they can make good as fodder. But this is entirely random much like calling for Levies. You can get six in one summon or one. Unlike Levies though, it costs 3 AP so that takes up your turn if you use it.
Priest Kings use sacrifices and have to decide how much they wish to spend to avoid losing control. Minor summons will call for various basic melee units, monster bats, or some back row caster and assassins. Major summons will get you your third level casters and sometimes a decent amount of units. Another ability the Kings have is the ability to sacrifice a village to their god for more blessings. This will demote a village down one rank or remove it entirely if its a farm. This has a random chance of increasing the effects Blessings have on the army. So far, it seems to only increase morale and max hp. Unfortunately, giving blessings in combat increases max hp but not current hp, making blessings one the most useless buff spells ever (cept if you really need fear resistance).
So lets talk units. Recruitment wise, you get a bunch of tribal units that mostly subpar compared to standard recruits. The only good thing is some start out with blessings so they will get stronger as you gain more favor from the gods. Priest Kings have little to offer spell wise and none of the casters can be upgraded. This makes very hard to build up the necessary caster force for this unit and the lack of range units means you are in a similar situation as the Senator but with far weaker units.
The third level casters (which cost around 200 sacrifices each) are decent. They seem to always know Smite which is a sure fire way to kill a unit. But they so far are lacking in the mass aoes that I am used to.
Honestly, I am not sure I can win this one on this difficulty. But take a look. These few parts I have up should give you an idea what they are like. I'll try to keep going until there is zero chance of winning. I think I played the faction wrong but having my stuff taken by my own teammates is not helping me learn faster. I think what I was supposed to be doing is hiring heroes and just mass producing slaves. But even that I am unsure about.
Oh and my AI partners are trolling me, I swear.
