This is it! The final faction playthrough for this game. Rules are max size map with max opponents on jester difficulty. The final faction to play is the Barbarian! Rawr!

So the main gimmick about the Barbarian units is they are all very vulnerable to magic. So spells or attacks with secondary effects will more than likely go off when hitting these guys. The melee units berserk when hit and seem to hit a bit harder than standard equivalent units. They only have access to archers for ranged combat but they are able to recruit 7 units at a time unless its cavalry which recruits 4 at a time (and have access to a mounted archers). So they can have some trouble dealing with heavy armor units but you make that up in numbers and berserking. Optional recruitments involve various tribes of Amazons that always come with a unit of 8, a priestess, and a sorceress which are a level 1 and level 2 class respectively.

Caster wise, you have Spirit Guides and Enarie that cast various wind magicks as well as summon spirits. The amazon casters depend on what tribe they are from. Crystal know wind, Amber know fire, and so forth. The Spirit Guides and Enarie can be upgraded using herbs but only at an Ancient Forest or Battleground. Herbs can also be used to summon spectral warriors that hit for magic damage, have less hp, but are all ethereal. You can even get champions that you can use to lead troups or have scout (taking advantage of their floating trait). The higher summons generally only summon more units at a time.

As mentioned, herbs are what Barbarians use and can only gather them if you have a Spirit Guide with you. Herbs are gathered just like the Druids, using forests, jungles, swamps, and ancient forests. The end game ability that Elder Enarie get is the ability to summon an ancient army which summons high level cavalry and heroes along with either a level 2 or level 3 caster and a massive amount of cavalry, swordsman, and archers. All of these are spectral units with ethereal.

Third level magic for the barbarian is not as flashy as other casters but they still get mass earth spells that can cause stun. Oh and they do get free totem in the beginning to act as a defender for your citadel. Overall, I had alot of fun with this class. Much like the Druid and Witch, you can easily mass up alot of herbs to do many summons with. Finding a battleground or ancient forest can be a pain though.
