This is the Japanese version of the Contra on NES and it's the same game for the most part. The main differences are the opening intro that's not in the nes version, the sevens in-between the levels and stages like 1, 5 and 8 have animated settings like the trees and the snowfall.

I died three times, one on stage 1, 3 and at the end of 8. A rough start for the first three stages, but after that I did surprisingly well for stage 4 through 7.
