Contra: Hard Corps is a 1994 game by Konami for the Sega Genesis. The game is very graphically impressive, and has branching paths, leading to different levels. I'm playing the Japanese version of the game, which has 3 hit points and unlimited continues. In the US version is much harder, you have 1 hit point and only 5 continues, making for a much more difficult game.

In this playthrough with RAY, I choose the BA path.
