Converting Stepper Into Game Movements! Arduino Project
A gaming stepper! I demonstrate how I used a stepper was a walking simulator for video games, where I essentially convert the real movements into game converts by using an Arduino Micro and giving out keyboard commands. This video doesn't go into details in terms of DIY, but you get the idea. I aligned sensors along the stepper pedal to be able to read the position of the pedal and then used that in my movement algorithm. Previous I used a gyroscope and accelerator to convert positional data to game movement data, but this is better and I experience better synchronization. Essentially the game presses 'w' whenever I move. I didn't add "SHIFT" (for fast running) or "CTRL" (for slow walking in some games) and I explained why in the video. Anyway, point is, I can use this sport stepper as a tool to exercise in video games. Preferably first person type games, or games that act as a walking simulators or running simulators. Converting mechanical movement to game movements is not my first person, I also use a treadmill. I didn't make an instructables, but if there's an interest I'll do a proper guide with explanation of how to DIY such a device.
