Costume Quest (Xbox One X) (Gameplay Walkthrough - Part 3)
Happy Friday everyone!
Check out part 3 of my gameplay walkthrough featuring the game Costume Quest. This game originally released on the Xbox 360 on October 19th, 2010 and is available to be played on the Xbox One X through backwards compatibility. It was developed/published by Double Fine Productions.
Costume Quest is a turn-based RPG (roleplaying game) where the player controls 1 of 2 siblings that go out trick-or-treating together on Halloween, however, things quickly take a turn for the worse and the non-player controlled sibling gets kidnapped by a monster. The player is then tasked with saving their sibling and saving the world from monsters in the process. The player can achieve this by traveling around different locales where they collect items for their costume(s), collect candy from adults and completing certain quests that give different awards while also meeting other kids and partying up with them.
There are 3 different hubs in this game: the local neighborhood, the mall and a leafy, farming town. The player visits each of these throughout the game and each area has its own set of quests and each one also introduces a different type of monster. There are various costumes that the player can unlock/collect in the game and each of them provide a different type of playstyle when it comes to the turn-based RPG battles with the monsters. The controls in this game are fairly simple: you can control the movement of your main character, whack different objects in the environment with your candy pail (which gives you candy in return) and some costumes have special effects that can be used in each of the game's hubs, while the turn-based battles include a basic attack action, an ultimate attack action and another action that is tied to using certain items.
I have to admit that this is one of my all-time favorite games and I will most definitely play the sequel before the month is over. This is an awesome and fun game that is full of charm and I have to say that I really love the art style.
