Hey Everyone, in this Episode we look at Country Utes and Statesman that are in the Kulin Area, so check it out.

Interview with Chad About is HZ Holden Ute.

Aussie Garage interviewed Chad about his 1977 HZ Holden Ute that he has owned since he was 18 - 19 years old and finally just it licensed again to enjoy it after a full restoration project. You can definitely see the passion and love that wen into this Holden Ute, its a stunning restoration.

When Chad first got the HZ Holden Ute it was fairly straight for Panel and Paint and had a roll bar and bull bar like most country vehicles have for protect out here. It had factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering and all the GTS Options, which was great for Chad. The aim of the restoration was to have something that Wowed and was loud, Chad definitely achieved both.

The HZ Ute has been painted in a BMW Trivago Blue and the it was original Blue prior to the restoration, but it never popped like this colour blue. Especially with the 15" Chrome Mag Rims on 245 60 R15 Tyres all round. As we know the original 14" Rims and Tyres are hard to find these days and the 15" option give you more choice in choosing. The HZ Holden Ute is running a 308 Holden Engine with a Borg Warner Single Rail Gearbox as the M21 gearbox could not handle the engine that he has. Chad refreshed this engine himself as the original 308 holden engine was tired and sluggish, but now it cruises along the road with no troubles. Chad being a mechanic by trade, made sure the 308 Holden engine would be fun and enjoyable.

The interior has been fully restored with the Leather seats, door trims , carpet and more by Apex Canvas Perth with the GTS dash to match. This HZ Holden Ute is very neat and tidy and catches your eyes straight away when you see it. He did have set backs with the restoration when the HZ Holden Ute was under a Car Cover, some rust had set on the chrome bumpers which he had to repair, it also pushed him to finish the project and stop wasting time.

Craig's Sandman Ute and Statesman

We also caught up with Craig that is a Kulin Local about his collect of vehicles. He owns a Genuine Holden Sandman Ute that brought in 2000 from a seller in Collie from the Quokka. The previous owner had HQ HJ Sandman Decals on the Ute and really was not sure what he selling. So Craig brought the Ute for $2200 and then started researching and googling the details, then he discovered he purchased a genuine Holden Sandman Ute. So be spent $25k on restoring the Holden Sandman Ute back to full factory Specifications to what you see now.

He did all the panel and paint, changed the gearbox from a auto transmission back to 4 Speed M21 Gearbox and then focused on the interior to go back the full GTS options as per factory standards. The Holden Sandman Ute is running a 308 Holden Engine with 4 speed M21 Gearbox and factory standard diff. The Engine was kept to factory specifications with no upgrades apart from changing the heads from Leaded Fuel to Unleaded Fuel.

Craig also owns a HZ Holden SLE Statesman Sedan that he brought from Esperance WA and brought back home on a Car Trailer. This Holden Statesman is new to the stables and he going to get the Panel and Paint done on the Statesman to restore this vehicle to its glory days. The Statesman is running, but it needs repairs on the brakes and suspension to be safe, This Holden Statesman spent 2 years locked away in a Sea Container in Kalgoorlie before the previous owner purchased it. As far as he knows, the last time this was registered was in 2004.

All the Panel and Paint will be done by a repairer in Mandurah WA and will transported down there on Car Trailer. The plan is to get the Statesman Licensed and restored in its original colour Mulberry Red Paint. This Holden Statesman is Red on Red with it red trim interior. Craig's son James can not wait to cruise with dad in the car and he likes driving around in old cars.
