There are two areas where getting the Orange Gem of "Generator Room" will help in to areas:

1. A path of Orange Gem platforms appear to let Crash break a crate under a moss-covered log.

2. Two Orange Gem platforms appear at the end of the level in order to reach an extension of the main path that contains more crates.

Take note that the Orange Gem has only made a major appearance in this game only. beyond this point, it will be gone, leaving only the Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple Gems to represent colored gems.
