It appears that in the medieval levels, Crash can move through them a bit faster if he travels along the sides of the path.

Maybe if I got that 3 second Time Crate sandwiched between the TNT Crates, I probably would've gotten a Platinum Relic, instead. I was mainly making sure to get to all 3 Aku Aku crates without getting hit anywhere between them.
