Following their defeat at the hands of Crash Bandicoot, Uka Uka attempts to liberate himself, Doctor Neo Cortex and Doctor Nefarious Tropy from their prison in the past. In his latest attempt, Uka Uka inadvertently unleashes a shockwave of energy that rips open a hole in the fabric of space and time before passing out as a result. As Cortex and N. Tropy escape and leave Uka Uka behind, N. Tropy discovers that the hole links their universe to the rest of the multiverse, leading Cortex to decide that they use this to conquer not only their home dimension but all other dimensions.
