There is no reason to make this stage harder than it has to be. Breaking all of the boxes does not require the yellow gem, but I hope you all noticed the path at 0:35 that will open up once we do collect the yellow gem. Remember to hold back on your D-pad or analog stick to slow down the mine cart. If you aren't rushing through the track section of the level, it shouldn't be too difficult seeing all of the boxes.

I would suggest avoiding most of the "enemies." The camera angles are not the best in this game, and you could easily end up running into them if you are not careful. And be careful of the beakers (or whatever those guys toss) because they will hit you while they are in flight, as well as their splash damage.
