-- Tips, Tricks, Common Issues: --

OBS records an .flv file rather than an .mp4:
If your OBS defaults to recording .flv files you can change this under "Broadcast Settings" tab in the settings menu. - Where it says "File Path" simply change the end of the name to read .mp4 rather than .flv and it should start recording correctly. -- If you recorded something in .flv and want to keep / use then just look up a video converter. Lots of them are available for free. Like Handbrake or AnyVideoConverter Lite.

Recording Stutter or Low FPS:
You first need to double check your "Advanced" settings tab. - If you're seeing poor recording or FPS adjust your x264 CPU preset to run faster. Starting from "veryfast" working your way up to ultrafast.

Blurry Areas in Recording:
H264 encoding is smart. But that can leave some low detail areas of your recording blurry unintentionally. Using the "Custom x264 Encoder Settings" checkbox under "Advanced" can help. Simple add "crf=20" should keep it crisp. For more info see: http://slhck.info/articles/crf

Trouble Recording a Newly Released Game:
Not every game is made equal. Some games use new technology or old tech differently. OBS does it's best. But sometimes you need to troubleshoot.

- Try Reducing Video Settings
- Play in Windowed Mode
- Reduce OBS Recording Quality / FPS
- Try setting Source to Window/Monitor Capture
