RétroGaming 2.0 ;0) Vous présente "Critical Blow"Une légende existe parmi les combattants et les artistes martiaux de ce monde, d'un mystérieux insigne de scarabée que seuls les guerriers les plus élites gagneront. Cet insigne, envoyé par le mystérieux Merkuar, est en fait une invitation à un dangereux tournoi organisé en Angleterre, où les concurrents se battent pour l'argent, le pouvoir et la gloire. Or, un pauvre jeune combattant de Hong Kong nommé Rickey Leon vient de recevoir l'un de ces badges. Critical Blow est un jeu de combat 1 contre 1 et la suite de Shadow Struggle. Bien que le jeu propose une vue entièrement en 3D, le gameplay se déroule dans un plan 2D traditionnel. En plus d'un compteur de vie standard, chaque personnage a une jauge spéciale, qui augmente au fur et à mesure que la bataille se déroule et permet aux personnages d'utiliser des mouvements spéciaux de puissance variable, appelés coups d'assaut, super coups et les coups critiques titulaires. Plusieurs modes de jeu permettent également au joueur de gagner, d'appliquer et de parier un certain nombre de types de cartes, qui offrent différents avantages au personnage, tels que des mouvements supplémentaires, des attaques plus fortes ou des affinités élémentaires. Le jeu propose quatre modes de jeu différents : Tournoi, Commerce, Théâtre et Versus. Tournoi est un mode arcade standard où le joueur peut sélectionner n'importe quel personnage disponible et combattre les autres en séquence. Le mode trading permet au joueur de combattre des adversaires informatiques pour gagner des cartes supplémentaires. Le mode Théâtre est le mode histoire principal, avec des cinématiques entièrement animées suivant le personnage principal, Rickey Leon. Enfin, le mode Versus est un mode de combat libre à 2 joueurs. Il est possible d'utiliser et de miser éventuellement des cartes en mode Versus. Il y a dix personnages initialement disponibles, avec plusieurs autres déverrouillés lorsque des conditions spécifiques sont remplies.

This badge, sent out by the mysterious Merkuar, is in fact an invitation to a dangerous tournament held in England, where the contestants fight for money, power, and glory. Now, a poor young fighter from Hong Kong named Rickey Leon has just received one of these badges. Critical Blow is a 1-on-1 fighting game, and the sequel to Shadow Struggle. Though the game features a full-3D view, gameplay takes place in a traditional 2D plane. In addition to a standard life meter, each character has a Special Guage, which increases as the battle proceeds and allows the characters to use special moves of varying power, called Assault Blows, Super Blows, and the titular Critical Blows. Several game modes also allow the player to earn, apply, and wager a number of types of Cards, which provide different benefits to the character such as extra moves, stronger attacks, or elemental affinities. The game boasts four different game modes: Tournament, Trading, Theater, and Versus. Tournament is a standard arcade mode where the player can select any available character and fight the others in sequence. Trading mode allows the player to fight computer opponents to earn additional cards. Theater mode is the main story mode, featuring fully-animated cutscenes following the main character, Rickey Leon. Finally, Versus mode is a 2-player free battle mode. It is possible to optionally use and wager cards in Versus mode. There are ten characters initially available, with several more unlocked as specific conditions are met.
