Our early look at Cronos: The New Dawn was a bit of a trip through time and space. In a fictional future, humanity has been ravaged by a cataclysmic event known as The Change. In order to combat the effects and perhaps save the future, an enigmatic group known as The Collective sends Travelers back to secure the spirits and energy of key people who could have stopped or had some effect on The Change.
That’s where we come in. We play the latest Traveler to try to take care of this whole “saving the past and future” thing for The Collective and the demo took me back to a splintered vision of 1980s Poland. It wasn’t long before I found my predecessor, all mangled, but leaving me messages and gear to carry on their mission, which was to track down a key person and wrangle their spirit. It also wasn’t long before I bumped into hostile creatures formed of spindly muscle and tendons. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the worst comes after you dispatch a foe. The enemies in this game will seek to assimilate with the corpses of their fallen comrades. If they get away with it, they’ll become a stronger monster, complete with abilities of whatever was consumed.
