► Crusader Kings 3 – New War Mechanics – Dev Diary #3 Reaction: Army, Advantage and Aftermath – Knights and Trebuchets – Battle, Combat and Prowess – There is a whole lot of everything about war in this new Dev Diary about Crusader Kings 3. It's a big one, even if it has a low number of screenshots, and I'm happy about the level of detail. What will we look at?

We will see what differentiates Crusader Kings 3 combat from CK2's system – we analyze how CK3 is a little more game-ish, while CK2 is random- and surprise-bound. It's a SYSTEM now, that can be connected with a BOARD GAME logic, not a brutal slaughter that can be decided or influenced by random events at random times. The battles become more plannable, as everyone likes plans. Do I like them so much? I'm not sure. But with everything so well laid out, so thought through, I'm ready to be convinced. Convince me, Crusader Kings 3, I want to indulge in your great-looking realms and your character emphasis.

Even though... wasn't combat a little more personal in CK2? Now we only have one commander leading the army, not up to three. But now we will have Knights. What difference is that going to make? Crusader Kings 2 is and Crusader Kings 3 will be a Historical Grand Strategy Game with a lot of Roleplay and roleplaying opportunites for the player. The game has strategic depth in army control and realm management. You impersonate the current ruler of your dynasty and can manage most of his actions as well, giving rise to a multitude of entertaining and fun situations resulting from the good and not so good traits, perks and attributes of your ruler and the other characters in the game world.
