"Old" in gaming doesn't necessarily mean "bad" - in Crusader Kings' case it only came out in 2004, and there are certainly older games than that around that are still regularly played - but in this case, the sequel so outdoes and improves on it that there really would be no reason to go back, except plain old nostalgia.
