CUPHEAD: RIBBY & CROAKS STRATEGY GUIDE - REGULAR DIFFICULTY

Recommended loadout: pea shooter, spread, smoke bomb

PHASE 1

Croaks spits out flaming fireflies that will slowly move toward you; Shoot these before they get too close. Ribby throws flaming boxing gloves in straight lines; you can duck below all of them except the lowest-level gloves, which must be jumped over.

At the end of this phase, jump and dash over Ribby as he comes rolling toward you.

PHASE 2 [0:36]

The trick to this phase is learning to adjust your movement tactics on the fly. Ribby's attacks always bounce in a predictable pattern, but Croaks complicates your movement when he's in fan-mode. Listen for the wind-up and wind-down sounds that indicate when Croaks is going to start/stop blowing. Try to stay in the center or center-right of the screen, since Ribby's attacks initially land on the floor right in front of him.

At the end of this phase, jump and dash overtop of Ribby as he rolls across the screen again.

PHASE 3 [1:05]

The slot machine can't be damaged while the compartment on the front is closed. Dodge the coins it shoots until the crank handle comes down and turns pink. Parry the handle to pull it. When the compartment opens, continually shoot while dodging the platforms that emerge. GREEN platforms move very fast; jump from platform to platform without falling between them. ORANGE platforms move slowly but have bouncing balls that you need to dodge. RED platforms float and shoot fire up or down; look at the direction of the pilot flame to know whether to jump over or go under. ALL platforms will damage you if you hit the side of the platform.
