Cuphead - How to Beat Sally Stageplay in Dramatic Fanatic Walkthrough Strategy Guide
112CUPHEAD: SALLY STAGEPLAY STRATEGY GUIDE - REGULAR DIFFICULTY
Recommended loadout: lobber, spread, energy beam, smoke bomb
Compared to the difficulty of most of the Isle 3 bosses, you might find Sally Stageplay to be refreshingly easy!
PHASE 1
Sally has a series of simple attacks that are fairly easy to counter. When she jumps, she's either going to throw a fan or lunge at you with a corkscrew attack; jump or dash away to avoid either attack (careful to avoid the fans after they lodge into the ground). When she blows a kiss, parry the floating heart. When she disappears into her umbrella, she's about to drop on you from above; when you hear the third "ha" of her sinister laugh, dash or run away from where you're currently standing, because that's where she'll drop.
PHASE 2
Sally's corkscrew and fan-throwing attacks remain the same. In addition, she has a new attack in which mechanical mice will drop from her umbrella, scoot towards the sides of the screen, fly up the sides of the screen and attempt to drop on you from above. They will not anticipate your movements but will drop as soon as they're above you, so you can control when they drop by running or dashing beneath them. Once they hit the ground, they will break and are no longer a threat. (After you defeat Sally in this phase, any mice still on the screen will remain a threat until they hit the ground.)
The only other thing to watch out for is the baby throwing bottles out of the windows of the house. Move out of the way whenever the baby appears above you (the bottles travel straight down).
PHASE 3
Sally remains stationary in this phase, hovering near the left side of the screen. You can stand below her and fire upward for most of the phase (the spread weapon is perfect for this). If you have energy beam equipped and your super meter is full, use it now; don't save it for the fourth phase.
Watch the top-left corner of the screen for signs to appear, indicating which attack is coming next (they happen in this order):
1. Meteor: Simply shoot the meteor to destroy it. A pink star will appear and hover near the top of the screen. DO NOT parry it yet unless you have smoke bomb equipped.
2. Big Wave: Use the pink star to parry yourself overtop of the wave, or (if you have smoke bomb equipped) jump and dash through the thin portion of the wave.
3. Lightning: Three or four lightning bolts will fall in straight line toward your position. They move relatively slowly and are easy to avoid by running or dashing. (A second wave of lightning bolts might follow the first.)
PHASE 4
Sally's umbrella chases you along the bottom of the screen while Sally flies back and forth above. Simply jump over the umbrella as you chase Sally down and shoot her. The falling roses will damage you, but these move slowly and are fairly easy to avoid. DON'T use your energy beam super unless you're willing to take a hit; as soon as you're done blasting Sally with it, you'll fall right onto the umbrella (you might be able to avoid it by dashing, but I have not tested this).
