2019 and its long waited sequel...somewhat unique and futuristic... and polar opposites of each other...

(I would like to note this... I played them back to back... and it actually improved the experience for the sequel... I would suggest doing this...)

The first map in the series... a fairly futuristic setting...
Even with the overall lack of detail, it was still a well made and well realized map in terms of setting... some areas were stellar in aesthetic value... gameplay was nice and short, with well balanced supplies...

However, the map does fall short... and hard... the lack of finale is a HARD hit against the map... and the only real complaint many people come up with... the worst part is that the elevator sequence could EASILY be made a finale... just stop it from moving till rescue has come... and done... you have a finale with high stakes as you have to wait for the elevator and run to the end...

It is also important to note that this map was made Mckelio23... and was ported by the author of 2019 II...

Pros
+Story driven
+Great FIRST cutscene

+Voice acting
+Custom models acting as NPCs
+Multiple endings

Cons
-Bug ridden
-No gameplay
-Too many cutscene, and too many of them painfully drawn out
-Flat, no detail, bad aesthetic design... (hence it not being the same person)
-Can leave the map and skip a cutscene very easily
-No finale... again
-Only map with "gameplay" is about a minute walk... and half torn from Cold stream...
-NO replay value

To quote the conclusion from my review on the site...
"I have nothing wrong with a story driven campaign... they are as welcomed as any other type of campaign... but that is the problem here... where was the "campaign" portion?...
No horde events... maximum of 50 infected sightings per chapter... No finale...

You can have a story and still have a campaign at the same time... look at Cold Case... despite me using this campaign as a bad example for many things... it did do one thing right... it had a story and was still a decent campaign...

I can nitpick all day... but bottom line is simply this... you stripped L4D of its very essence... I doesn't matter how good the story or ending is... if the journey is not fun... then it was not worth it... "

My opinion has not changed from this...



So 2019 and 2019 II are both "half-campaigns"...
The first one has good gameplay... but not much too tell story wise...
While the second one heavy on the story... with no gameplay...

The best experience to have is playing them back to back... since to halves to make a whole... neither map is necessarily bad... but they are by no means "great" or complete... this is just my view on it...
