Cuthbert in space on Dragon32 (Rob's Retro Rambles)
Playing Cuthbert in space on the Dragon32 for the very first time.
Apparently, like Roland on the Amstrad CPC and Horace on the Speccy, Cuthbert was a bit of a mascot on the system (or for Microdeal, anyway) and starred in several games. Aside from Cuthbert In Space, there was also:
Cuthbert And The Golden Chalice
Cuthbert Goes Digging
Cuthbert Goes Walkabout
Cuthbert In The Cooler
Cuthbert In The Jungle
Cuthbert In The Mines
No doubt all of varying quality and all to follow on this channel at a later date (or if you're reading this much much later, possibly already here) While recording this I was under the impression Cuthbert in Space was the first in the series but I see now that Digging, Jungle, Mines and Walkabout were all 1983, whereas this was 1984 so well done there Rob.
According to Wikipedia, "Microdeal also sold Cuthbert-branded blank media (tapes, disks, etc.), re-boxed and sometimes adapted hardware (such as joysticks) made by other companies and published an occasional semi-informative, semi-promotional magazine called The Cuthbert Chronicle"

So, that's a thing. Being a Commodore 64 owner at the time I was completely unaware of him, but I'm not sure seeing his face plastered all over products would've made me want to switch to a Dragon. Anyone out there feel differently about that and have strong feelings for the gormless little oik? I suspect there's some of you lurking out there as both Jason Arnopp and Crabsantler both requested I check out this series...

Some people have said I should set up a tip jar, to help with cost of repairs and the like. As I can't really offer anything other than thanks I don't feel Patreon is particularly suitable, so I've set up this - https://ko-fi.com/gigerpunk
Absolutely no obligation, I'm not doing any content just for people who pay and not doing adverts of any kind, it's just there for those who'd like to help out occasionally.
