100I want to express my gratitude to CD Projekt Red for providing me with an Early Access code for the Expansion. However, before I begin, let me make a disclaimer: just because I received a free code does not mean I will compromise the integrity of my honest review. I'm not afraid to give a negative review that may sever ties with a company; I will review based on my honest opinion.
Having said that, The Phantom Liberty Expansion is truly incredible. I went in with very low expectations, and Cyberpunk has been a roller coaster of emotions since its release. I deeply respect how they not only persevered through the beating rightfully deserved by the disastrous launch, but instead of retreating and sweeping the project under the rug, they faced it head-on. They addressed and fixed every problem that was criticized, ultimately providing us with an even better initial experience.
Cyberpunk stands as a testament to why harsh criticism, even bordering on emotionally overwhelming for the developers, can serve as a reality check and the motivation needed to perfect something. CD Projekt Red absorbed every roast, montage, criticism, negative review, and instead of viewing it as a beatdown or hate speech, they took it to heart and worked diligently to address and fix every issue. And as a result, Cyberpunk 2077 stands as a near-perfect game today. What a turnaround.
I used to wonder, "how could they create an expansion when the base game is barely functional?" Well, the base game is now functional, and even better than before with the 2.0 update, and the expansion is truly incredible. I would go so far as to say that the story in the Expansion surpasses the main story of Cyberpunk. Idris Elba portrays an absolute badass, and you become deeply engaged with the narrative. Additionally, the new area is reminiscent of something straight out of Blade Runner. If you love Cyberpunk, I wholeheartedly recommend this as a must-purchase. Moreover, the introduction of new abilities, weapons, and augments is a fantastic addition.
