The Apollo is a hybrid style case with a rubbery shock absorbing interior layer and a hard plastic exterior. The outside of the case has a textured matte touch. The finish offers something to grip and also is a bit scratch resistant. The case also offers a raised rubber edge around the touch screen glass, which should offer additional protection. When putting the phone down, the glass won't be up against the surface, and it will keep the case from sliding around.
