D Series OFF ROAD Driving Simulation (2015) - Every PC Rally Game
D Series OFF ROAD Driving Simulation by devotid Media, 2015.
Originally released in 2015, then re-released with many updates in 2017 (as shown here), the lengthily titled D Series OFF ROAD Driving Simulation (made by the tiny independent developer devotid) is, to put it mildly, a mixed bag!
Out-of-the-box it feels like a tech demo, with glitchy graphics, a frame rate that is rather unstable (especially if you put on any kind of reflections), poor sound effects and a good sprinkling of collision bugs... plus you even have to manually enter your Steam install path, if you want it to find any extra tracks! Speaking of which...
...it actually supports the Steam Workshop, so anyone can make tracks for it, which is a positive (many tracks here are made by the community).
Despite me sounding negative though, after a while of playing the game I find it's actually quite fun, in a way, just chucking the car around the tracks (especially the more crazy ones made by the community)! There's also a full detailed car setup menu, as with other simulations.
So, the game isn't big or clever, but it's not terrible. Programmed in Unity it feels like it's not quite up to the potential it could be, but I've played (much) worse! Apart from the RallyCross Ford Fiesta styled car shown here, the game also includes a wide-range of off road vehicles, including monster trucks, Trophy Trucks, a Land Rover style rock crawler (with a winch) and more.
I have to make note of the ragdoll marshals though, who all utter amusing phrases (should you run them over), about you needing to drive better!
