The first dahlia OS version It was built on top of Google's Fuchsia operating system. This may mean that many of those who are not comfortable with the direction that Google is taking may have dahliaOS as a good alternative. An operating system based on Fuchsia, created to work on any device and, of course, it can also work on your PC or laptop. However, the new distro we are talking about here is desktop-centric, functioning more like a traditional Linux distro.
The dahliaOS desktop environment is called Pangolin Desktop and offers some pretty cool features, and written in Dart, and a clean environment to work in. Furthermore, it is based on X.Org and the Flutter engine. The shell also supports a tiled window layout mode like Openbox Window. As a basis, the developments of the Capybara project and its own windows system, written from scratch, are used.
El Fuchsia Zircon microkernel can be used together with linux kernel to get the Fuchsia shell working. Most of the apps being built for the distribution are written in Dart and Flutter. For example, the Fuchsia project is developing a file manager, a configuration tool, a text editor, a terminal emulator, a virtual machine and container management application, a media player, and a catalog application for media players.
In Pangolin, there is built-in support for insulated containers in which you can run any application other than dahliaOS. If your system has UEFI, you will find a system recovery application that will allow you to automatically download a fresh dahliaOS image and boot into it in case of system problems. The dahliaOS operating system includes only the apps you need, keeping things light. You can add all your favorites from other operating systems using the Containers app. You can also download third-party native Flutter apps from the app store.
