Dancer of the Boreal Valley Twice! S25 Pt1 Let's Play Dark Souls 3
0Dancer is one of those fights where death can come as soon as the fight begins, she hits hard, has a somewhat unpredictable moveset, and is unforgiving on mistakes. If you're looking for an easy way, ha.. I wish there was one, but even if you summon trust me, it can do far more harm than good. 3 Summons sounds like a cakewalk..until 2 of them die within the first 10% leaving you and the other phantom to clean it up.
Assuming you're fighting her solo, here's the main points you need to be aware of. In phase 1 she's very easy. (comparatively speaking with phase 2 anyway.) When she jumps in phase 1, roll away and run back in and hit her once if you're confident. As far as timing her swings and rolling through, well.. it sucks but practice is king here. I've fought her every bit of I'd say 40 hours out of the 110 I've played.
The key to dodging is memorize her combos, some of her combos has little giveaways. It's hard to put into words but if you watch her closely you'll see when you can easily dodge roll for a counterattack. The other huge thing in phase 1 is her grab attack, when you notice her do a little bow and reach her hand out roll AWAY. Normally it'll dodge it if you're far enough away when it starts. You CAN iframe it but it's very unreliable.
When she lets ash loose that symbolizes the second phase is starting. Immediately (unless you stun her) she'll go into spin to win mode so I'd recommend backing waaaay up. You can somewhat easily roll through it, but one screw up and it's death. Also in phase 2 she utilizes her jump attack again but this time do NOT try to counterattack immediately. She'll spin around dealing heavy damage.
A good time to hit her is when she does her huge slow uppercut with both blades. Simply roll through it and hit her, it's very easy to do so. If you notice her spin around but not ducked down near as much as her spin to win, she's probably going to start a big 3 hit combo. Blocking is not recommended but I've witnessed hosts do it.. they just take heavy damage and usually get their guard broken. Simply rolling 3 times and counterattacking is again best.
She'll also occasionally let loose the ash again in an aoe around her. I play it safe generally and leave as soon as she winds up. You can stay in it but the second "pulse" will damage you quite severely. It should be noted you CAN iframe the second pulse if you time it right. (It also feels great to do)
By far her biggest combo in the second phase is where she does a little mini jump and turns around in mid-air followed by about 5-6 swings. This WILL kill you very quickly, it's recommended to simply roll back away if viable. Since blocking is just.. a nice fantasy. It CAN be blocked but it's not really reliable since you're hoping after your guard gets broken that she'll miss. Which she does funny enough occasionally.
I absolutely hated this fight the first time I saw it, you may too since it can feel cheap. It's really not though, dodging her is simply a matter of recognizing what she's doing not simply reacting. Since panic rolling will get you killed easily here.
