D&D HeroQuest - Quest 9: Race Against Time
2Documents and texts recovered from Balur's stronghold reveal a sinister plot. The forces of Chaos hope to bring about the "Resurrection of Darkness." A return to an earlier age when the gods of Chaos walked the earth and used it as their constant battlefield. Desperate to learn more about this fel ritual, the empress has tasked you with guiding Liarna the Elven Sage deep into the catacombs of knowledge. It is a massive labyrinthine library said to hold some of the greatest arcane and divine secrets in existence. Guide her to the heart of this labyrinth that she might find the ancient scrolls detailing the ritual and how to prevent it. But hurry heroes. Time is short, shorter than you could ever know.
Liarna the Elven Sage is attuned to the library itself. Upon entering she becomes dizzy and collapses. You hear the squawking laughter of a hideous birdlike creature. It is a servant of Tzeentch, Chaos God of Magic! Before your very eyes the library begins to shits and change, the shelves, lined with ancient tomes, begin to elongate and twist in upon themselves. Liarna’s eyes upon wide in fear and realization. “We must hurry to the ancient library, there is not much time left.”
This adventure has no short rests or long rests.

In this ongoing 14 part series, we reboot the original 14 quests of Games Workshop/Milton Bradley's fantastic board game HeroQuest using 5th edition D&D and gorgeous maps by Heroic Maps. A slightly more cohesive story thread follows the adventures of Sir Ragnar, retired champion of the empire and his elite squad of adventurers as they fight against the forces of chaos that threaten to drown out the world of light with their darkness. Designed to be connected but self-contained one-shots the series allows players to drop in and out as schedule permits allowing for a revolving cast of players and characters.
