D&D YouTubers praise how Pathfinder 2e does "multiclassing" (The Rules Lawyer)
During Session 4 of our "D&D YouTubers learn Pathfinder 2e" series, d4: D&D Deep Dive (Colby) and The DM Lair (Luke) praised how PF2 handles "multiclassing" through its ARCHETYPE system.
ADDITIONS:
-Pathfinder 2e DOES have dual-classing, which unquestionably increases your character power, if you want your campaign to truly blend 2 the capabilities of classes. This variant is in the Gamemastery Guide and at this link, where Paizo also gives advice on the effect it has on your campaign. It is also particularly useful for smaller parties: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1328
-What's not clear in this conversation, is how PF2e manages to allow "free feats" while keeping PC power in check: the improvement of your character's MATH is hardwired in your Class as it levels up. Feats tend to give more options; often they are alternative actions/activities that compete for your 3 actions.
-Pathfinder 2e builds on how D&D 4ed did multiclassing, in that you don't take levels of a class but you get abilities via feats. However, it also expands on what 4e did by (1) having additional feats for a multiclass besides those granting Powers, (2) having NON-multiclass archetypes like Beastmaster, Marshal, etc., and (3) allowing characters to have more than one "multiclass". You can have take a NEW archetype after taking 3 feats in your 1st archetype, for instance.
