Dangerous Dave, Catacombs Demo Disk

A part of the catacombs pack at gog.com

Demo disks were huge back in the 80s and 90s. Demo disks were essential for people without a connection to BBS's who didn't want to drop full price on the full game. A large number of games were released on Demo disks and some were only released on demo disks.

In the future, this channel will feature more games from demos as well as full on demo disk compilations with links to the archive.org page.

As it stands, I've covered only 0.01% of the games I own at last count in 2017. I own 4,000 games at last count back in 2020 on PC digital distribution platforms. The harder platforms to get video from are the older computers I own. The one computer I own that will be the most difficult will be the NEC PC-8801A. LGR had the PC 8801, that is the Japanese release of the NEC PC-8801, the 8801A is the super rare American only release of the computer. The difference between the two is a jumper pin in a different location and a QWERTY keyboard. The NEC PC-8801A had English only software made for the disastrous American release. No known games were officially made for the American release. The OS used for the NEC PC-8801A uses CP/M. It remains the only CP/M exclusive computer I own.

Computers that will be emulated are:

IBM PC Jr and the Tandy PC standard.
Coleco Adam
Timex Sinclair
Amiga
DOS; because it's easier using DosBox.
Tandy CoCo
Texas Instruments TI-99/A
Commodore 64/128
Apple II G/S
Apple Macintosh Color Classic
Windows 9x programs might be emulated depending on if a 3D accelerator would make a difference

I pretty much own every console released in North America and will be emulated except:
Magnavox Odyssey I
RCA Studio II
Neo-Geo (oddly enough, I own the Neo-Geo CD)
Philips CD-i

Homebrew games will be played on original hardware, no matter how terrible it looks.

The two consoles that can be emulated but you truly miss out on the experience are Fairchild Channel F and Bally Astrocade. The controller for both consoles are a part of the experience. A single game on the Bally Astrocade uses a controller that some of the biggest game collectors I personally know that are unable to find. The ICBM Attack controller is the most elusive controller out there. If you have one, please reach out to me to work something out.

When it comes to the PSVR, I really have no clue how to relay the video other than what is displayed on the TV output.
