Dante's Inferno (Xbox 360) Gamechive (Intro & Prologue)
"Intro & Prologue"—As part of the opening cinematic, we find that in the year 1191, European knights of the Third Crusade captured the city of Acre, about 30 miles from Jerusalem. Under orders from King Richard, 3,000 civilian prisoners were detained. They were held as ransom for a holy relic once taken by Saladin, the Kurdish protector of the Holy Land. As the hot summer wore on, Saladin dug in and refused to negotiate. Richard grew frustrated, unsure of an attack on Jerusalem. And the fate of the innocent prisoners was left undecided.
We find the hero of the story, Dante, preparing for battle (and the first area of the game, which serves as a tutorial). After being killed by an assassin, Dante battles with Death (boss fight), and reclaims his life. Returning home after a crusade has ended, Dante finds his beloved, Beatrice, slain, and her soul stolen away. Seeking her back, he sets off for the church, which has become ablaze, and battles his way through minions, looking to escape. Dante encounters the spirit of the Poet Virgil (his guide throughout the game), who bestows upon him magical abilities and the Death Blade Relic. A review of the game's Skill trees, Relics, Magic, and Journal is found next, and Dante edges forward to find Beatrice.
