6Here is my review of the Kato 10-1671 that is the Class 800/0 in N Scale/N Gauge that is a 5 car train pack based in the GWR livery. The model train pack is very nicely presented and it is high quality. I am happy to have got this pack and I don't regret switching to N scale due to likes of Hornby and other brands pricing me out of the OO gauge range.
This is a very nice pack from Kato and you are supplied with some track to display the model train on inside your cabinet if you are a collector. I was distracted by a noisy aircraft when I was trying to talk about the track but you get the idea and Kato also included a buffer stop as well. Although its a Japanese type that its not really suitable for UK model trains. I appreciated the thought however.
The train pack is DCC ready and you will need three decoders to use this pack on a DCC layout. There is the option to add the Kato light bars if you wanted to have interior lighting. This way it gives us the option if we want cabin lights or not.
Quality is there for all to see. No fuzz on the decals or lettering and there is some coupling bars that you can add to the model if you wanted to run this in multiple working as the nose cone is removable although I have not shown this because it keeps the dust out.
Performance is excellent all around because the motor car is all wheel drive and the unpowered cab cars are fitted with working directional lighting which is why you require 3 DCC decoders. If you like modern era high speed UK trains. Then consider getting this one! Top work from Kato as usual.
