Dark Edge - The First Attempts at a 3D Fighter by SEGA - 1993 - Arcade - Shortplay
Dark Edge is an arcade fighting game released in 1993. It was one of the first attempts to create a 3D fighting game, but used Sega's Sprite Scaling technology rather than polygons. Not only can players fight each other on a horizontal plane, but they can enter the background and foreground, allowing eight directions to fight from. The Astro City Mini marks the first time this game has come to international shores.
GAME RECORDING INFO:
The game was emulated at Retroarch, using MAME core. It was integer scaled to 4k, without bi-linear filtering, and retaining the original aspect ratio (display aspect ratio, not internal resolution). And captured using shader / filter that simulates the image of a CRT monitor screen. I also use a bezel above the game, with a image of arcade machines, to create a nostalgic atmosphere.
