Dark Fear - All Jumpscares
33All the jumpscares I could find in the game Dark Fear, a game that tries to capture a 1980's style of point-and-click/RPG horror game. Apparently this was originally a mobile game before being ported to Steam. This is one game I played to get into the feel of spooky October times.
It's an okay game and the atmosphere and point-and-click elements are pretty good (nothing particularly difficult). Where the game suffers is being overly grindy to upgrade your gear (of the four hours played to beat this, probably 1-2 hours was hunting/fishing). It also warns that the game music is copyrighted and to avoid uploading it (seems a bad idea if you simultaneously want people to upload your game). The combat is also very simplistic.
Unfortunately, the game also has no deaths to it - whenever you are killed in a fight, you wake up in the starting cabin with 1 HP. I was expecting some cool deaths like with Uninvited or such and excluding them diminishes the horror aspect significantly and feels like a missed opportunity.
