Dark souls 1: Sorcery run: Part 10: Sif, Four Kings and the Painted World
Join me for a run through of dark souls, using only sorcery.
Having end game sorceries helps me blitz through Lordran and I knock out Sif, the Four Kings and make it through most of the Painted World of Ariamis without too much resistance.
Ideally, you level up INT and ATT and grab a few sorceries from Rickert at the start of the game. This enables you to start the run pretty easily. From there, you want to rush to Griggs to be able to grab other sorceries and the Bellowing Dragon Ring. After you hit Sen's fortress, completing Logan's questline is a must for access to those top tier sorceries.
Key characters in this run are:
1) Rickert of Vinheim (early sorceries)
2) Griggs of Vinheim (support/sorceries)
3) Big hat Logan (The big guns)
For PvE, hidden body and aural decoy are surprisingly effective at allowing you to get around tough enemies and easily give you an advantage getting off strong attacks. Hush and chameleon weren't used in this run. Fall control helps, but isn't useful enough to be worth being equipped I think.
Drawbacks of sorcery are:
- Targeting of enemies. Must be locked on to aim most sorceries effectively. Most only travel in a straight line and lack vertical precision. This is most obvious when fighting on stairs, hills and enemies that roll, dodge or move in random directions. Targeting also makes it hard to roll omnidirectionally.
-Limited casts of certain spells. Once you run out of casts, you're a sitting duck. There are no consumables that restore sorcery uses.
